Lishongololo (Pty) Ltd was founded in 2018 in the Embulwane rural area with the visionary aim of bridging the gap between rural and urban communities through
fashion design and schoolwear production. Although officially registered in 2018,
The company began full operations in February 2021.
Lishongololo Academy of Fashion was established to empower unemployed youth and women by equipping them with practical sewing, business, and entrepreneurial skills. The company currently operates in Pietermaritzburg and remains committed to uplifting underprivileged communities through skills development and economic opportunity.

Founder and Director
Lindiwe Bhengu is a skilled and passionate entrepreneur who
has dedicated her work to creating employment and
educational opportunities for others through fashion and
sewing.
ACHIEVEMENTS
ACHIEVEMENTS
– Recognised by the Department of Social Development and awarded the opportunity to run a 6-month sewing training project for community members in Umbumbulu (eMkhambathini area). This initiative focuses on empowering local residents with employable skills in garment manufacturing.
– Recognised by the Department of Economic Development and selected to showcase our original fashion designs at the prestigious Kwande Festival in Durban.
These achievements demonstrate the credibility and growing influence of Lishongololo in both community development and the fashion industry.


Lishongololo Academy of Fashion is accredited by the Fibre Processing and Manufacturing SETA (FP&M SETA). In addition, the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) provides business training and support to the academy.
